Among the recipients was G4S Jõgeva patrol security officer Vaido Zimmermann, who received the Lifesaver medal.

On the night of April 13th this year, Vaido Zimmermann responded to a smoke and fire alarm from a Nublu sensor in a private home in Järva parish. Upon arrival, Vaido smelled smoke and saw a smoking pan on the stove through the window, with someone lying in bed. "I knocked, but he didn't wake up," the security officer described. "So I called the emergency center and tried to pry open the doors until I got one open," said Vaido, who is also a professional rescuer at the Jõgeva Rescue Station.

Since he couldn't wake the person, he decided to drag the victim to the stairs, while also reporting the incident to the G4S Control Center and the Emergency Response Centre. While waiting for the rescuers, he turned off the power from the fuse box and took the burning pan outside. The ambulance soon arrived and took the victim away, and the Põltsamaa rescuers checked and ventilated the rooms.

Vaido's quick and decisive action saved a person's life that night.
