Integrated Fever Screening Solution
It is well-known that one major symptom of virus infections is fever. One of the easiest ways of detecting a high temperature is by using thermal technology.
Our solution provides options for either temporary or permanent installation using a combination of specialist thermal cameras and advanced analytics to accurately automatically monitor the temperature of pedestrians entering a designated screening area.
HOW CAN WE HELP?
Our Integrated Fever Screening Solution is able to detect elevated body temperatures to make a preliminary screening. The onsite security personnel or fully integrated technology can then take action and prevent the possible virus carrier from gaining access to the facility or premises.
The thermal technology is:
- Highly efficient: Takes one second to detect the individual temperature of each person within a multitargeted group, which prevents any congestion when passing through onto a site.
- Safe: Supports non-contact temperature measurement, and is accurate from 3-5 metres away. This reduces the risk of infection coming from physical contact.
- Intuitive: The system displays critical temperature elevations in real-time, quickly alerting the operator using colour and sound alarms as exceptions occur.
- Deployed quickly: The solution is easy to set up for those operating under tight deadlines.
IN OPERATION

The system provides for dual live visual and thermal views from a single camera with an alarm for ‘fever’. Operators are kept at a safe working distance with continual monitoring and alerting.
OPTIONS FOR DEPLOYMENT
Integrated Mobile Fever Screening Solutions
Our semi-automatic solution allows a system to automatically measure the temperature of a person walking in a pre-designated screening area (maximum distance 3 to 5 metres x width 1.4 metres).
This solution can take a capacity of up to 30 persons sequentially and, if deployed appropriately will have minimal impact on people flow. The camera and Blackbody calibration unit can be mounted on a temporary tripod and linked to a designated monitoring station, meaning installation can take place with no disruption to building or IT Infrastructure. When identifying a possible virus carrier, the system gives an alarm (light, sound and/or signal to a remote monitoring room). Security Personnel approaches, whilst maintaining a safe distance, and isolates the person for additional testing or asks the person to leave.
Integrated Permanent Fever Screening Solutions
Our fully automatic solution allows a system to automatically measure the temperature of a person walking in a pre-designated screening area (maximum distance 3 to 5 metres x width 1.4 metres).
This solution can take a capacity of up to 30+ persons sequentially and, if deployed appropriately will have minimal impact on people flow. The camera and Blackbody calibration unit are permanently mounted to a wall and linked to an operator’s terminal to minimise space and ensure full integration with the working environment. When identifying a possible virus carrier, the system will give a signal to door shutters, speed gate or similar apparel to lock the door and ensure that the possible virus carrier can’t enter. In addition the system outputs an alarm (light, sound and/or signal to a remote monitoring room).
The possible virus carrier is isolated and transferred to a screening area for additional testing. Depending on the result, the individual may be asked to leave. In this scenario, the chosen solution may be used in association with several other services of our security portfolio, including:
- Manned Security Services
- Alarm Responce Centre Services
- Access Control Systems
- Video Monitoring Systems
KEY CONSIDERATIONS
Although we are aware that high body temperature readings do not necessarily relate to a virus and disease carrier in 100% of the instances, it does give us a good indication and grounds to address the individual prospect and professionally manage the incident and therefore minimise the impact.
Our general advice is to avoid short distances between possible virus and disease carriers. This is where fever screening solutions come into place as they have the capability to detect the possible disease carrier from a distance of up to 3 to 5 metres, even within large groups. Another important element to consider is that it is critical that the appropriate planning takes place around the activities in the event that an alert is flagged. These should typically include a detailed process and dedicated geographic area for handling exceptions.
