Tartu Ülikool (University of Tartu), the basketball team of the University of Tartu Academic Sports Club, is part of a basketball tradition that is more than 60 years old. The basketball team was created on 23 February 2000, and over the past ten years, Tartu Ülikool has won the Championship six times (2000, 2001, 2004, 2007, 2008 and 2010). They have also played in various international series. In 2008 Tartu Ülikool came fourth in the FIBA Europe Champions Cup final tournament, and in 2009 they took third in the Baltic Basketball League.
